The Maldives

Stayed on both ends of it, twice — laid-back house reef diving at Kuredu and pure overwater luxury across four resorts.

Overview

I have stayed on both ends of the Maldives, twice, so I know how different one atoll can feel from the next. Kuredu Island Resort is where I go back for laid-back diving — you can walk off the jetty and onto the house reef whenever you like. For pure luxury I have stayed at Atmosphere Kanifushi, Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, and Centara Grand, each with its own character. Park Hyatt Hadahaa sits on a remote atoll with a 360° house reef you largely have to yourself. Whether you want a dive-focused week or a slow, indulgent one, I can match you to the right island because I have slept on most of them.

Top experiences

Kuredu house reef weeks

Dive the house reef straight off the jetty at your own pace, with the dive centre on hand for boat trips further out.

Atmosphere Kanifushi luxury

A long, languid island stay built around overwater villas, sunset dining and the kind of service that lets you switch off entirely.

Park Hyatt Hadahaa

A remote southern atoll with a pristine 360° house reef — the quiet, castaway end of the Maldives.

  3. Days 6–7

A boat trip to a nearby site, a sandbank picnic, and a final long morning on the reef before flying home.
